Sentencing a guy to prison and then making him pay 30% off of his income for the rest of his working life is literal slavery. Nintendo is evil and we should pirate more.

I agree with this sentiment in its entirety but the dude they came down on was known for creating ransomware and bricking people’s consoles.

This isn’t “Nintendo picking on the little guy”, so much as a small evil guy stepping on the toes of a much bigger evil guy and getting slapped.

That doesn’t matter, the dude worked for the pr team and had the least malicious involvement in the development. Furthermore, he wasn’t hit primarily on the basis of the ransomware. Hell, even if he was leading the development, it’d still be unjust. The people who had their switches bricked were never compensated, because Nintendo doesn’t give a shit about their consumers and only wants to make profit.

What Nintendo did shows what sort of punitive measures they will take to ensure that nobody pirate their games. Indentured servitude is absolutely cruel and unjust, no ifs; no buts.

at the end of the day, “don’t enslave people” is a pretty easy moral philosophy to hold firm on without caveats

the guy could have personally broken into people’s homes and destroyed their consoles with his bare hands and I’d still argue that a lifetime of forced labour isn’t a remotely just punishment for it

Moses Supposes

Running into this on my dash was like running into an old friend

Thats just what theater kids are like

What I’ve always loved about this bit is

a. this musical number comes completely out of nowhere, with no greater context than what this video captures; and

b. the language instructor clearly can’t hear the music. He’s not from Musical Theatre Land. From his perspective, a couple of twinkle-toed weirdos just randomly decided to physically abuse him for three solid minutes. This isn’t reading anything that’s not intended into the scene – it’s literally the central gag.

@thebibliosphere in case you need some ridiculous Singin’ in the Rain on your dash.

(P.S. I imagined you making the faces at the instructor and it was hilarious)

I can but aspire to the level of expressiveness Cosmo Brown has with his face.

it’s always funny when someone’s like “why can’t we have a serial killer that targets awful people like abusive ceos” because like…the thing is serial killers are generally not great people who want to make the world a better place . this can be seen in the killing and torturing.
